Thanksgiving 2011

This is a photo of Mario Soto and his family. I have been spending Thanksgiving and Christmas with them the past few years and I am grateful to them for their hospitality. Mario's father was Felix Soto who was my grandfather's brother. (Top row) Charlotte, Jimmy, James, Michael, Mark and Eva. (Bottom row) Marisa, Gabriel, Mario, Ian and Kevin.

Wedding Day

I attended the wedding of Holly Schmalz and Merle Richard on October 8, 2011. The wedding was held in the backyard of Holly and Merle's house in Riverdale, Utah. The bride and groom are both amateur athletes. Holly is a runner and Merle is a cyclist. Here is a photo of the bride and groom with their families. Congratulations to Holly and Merle.

Sunflower

I bought a new camera. It is the Fujifilm Finepix HS20EXR. I have been taking a few photos to explore some of the features. There were several reasons I wanted to get this camera. One it has a long telephoto lens, two it shoots High Definition video and three it has a resolution of 16 megapixels. It is still a point and shoot camera but it has a lot features that I find interesting. It won't replace my Fuji S2 camera but it is nice to have some of the features. Here is a photo I took in flower scene mode.

Ice

It doesn't get freezing cold here in Austin too often. Here is a photo of some ice from one of the water fountains at my apartment complex. I manipulated the color in Photoshop to bring out the texture of the ice.

Oldie but a Goodie

This is a photo of a model named Barbara Embleton that I photographed back in 1978. She was one of the first models I ever worked with and I still consider one of the most photogenic that I have ever worked with. I met her through another photographer. The photo was taken in Zilker Park, Austin, Texas.

Another beautiful day in Austin

Considering this is winter I would say that we are lucky to have days like today. I know that a real cold front is coming but that is what makes days like this even more special.

Just playing around

I like that I can manipulate the images and make bright colors or make them look surreal.

Happy New Year

I made a New Year's resolution to take at least one photo per day. I'll see if I can stick to it. By the way I am still volunteering at the Town Lake Animal Center. The Austin Animal Services Center will open in the Fall of this year (if they stay on schedule).
